Has India Withstood the Test of Time?
India has seen ups and downs throughout its long
history stretching beyond 5000 years. For thousands of years, India has had a
common culture no matter which empire ruled and which empire fell. Mauryas,
Satvahanas, Kushans, Guptas, Palas, Mughals, Marathas, the British Raj and
finally Sardar Patel kept rebuilding the pieces after everything fell
apart.
Lots of people with a limited knowledge of India
predicted that the nation would fall apart easily. They have very little clue
of the very strong binding forces that underpin India. There instead came a
time during the 1940’s that a few historians and a strong ground in believing
that the partition would not be a solution and ultimately the nation will
dissolve. As late as 1991, New York Times penned editorials about the
impending collapse of India.
|Pity India... Indian disunion would be a calamity
for human rights... History
|suggests terrible cost if India dissolves.

India didn't dissolve. Instead, it has become a
major force to reckon whether it is in economy, tech or military.
India has always been through a persistent
period of ups and lows. Some prominent incidences are:
The Ups

2.The White Revolution
3.The Space Revolution
4.The Nationalisation of the banks
5.The Non-aligned policy to the multi aligned policy
6.The Economic reforms of 1991
7. Continual Stability of the pillars of democracy- free fair elections, independent judiciary, free press, watchdog civil society
8.IT revolution

I guess the Ups benefited more people than the downs affected,so weighing up the scale,I will reiterate once again that India has stood the test of time.
We are heading towards fulfilling the dream of becoming supreme power of the world peacefully.
HENCE, there is no confusion! India has definitely withstood the test of time but it is the destiny of the country which it awaits to fulfill.
